HELP! 1602D with knock and smoke

was using the box blade to get out a rock in my yard.
got off the tractor (tractor was at idle) to see how big the rock was. Then knock,knock,knock..........with white smoke.
head gasket or what???

did the tractor shut down after the Knock & smoke?
1- pull the oil stick, and look at the oils condition...if water is in oil?
2- after it cooling down remove the rad cap and inspect the water level and
water condition as to check if oil has entered the water?
If you note either one of these you most likely have a blown head gasket,
However! if is the water jacket return blown near the cylinder you might be only getting coolant into the cylinder causing the white smoke, and of course result in needing a new head gasket, the knocking is probably because of running hot and a loss of compression,

it still idled. just sounded like it dropped a cylinder. rough idle and of course power loss.
going to check the fuel system b4 i pull the valve cover or oil pan.

Check the oil and coolant, as described, first. It's the most informative and the easiest. When I firsYM240 back together, I didn't know what I was doing, and put it together missing the rocker arm retainer. When the rocker arm slid off the shaft, it effectively "dropped" a cylinder, and made it run rough, blow white-ish gray smoke, and lack power. It's possible that you've broken an intake pushrod, lost a rocker arm, or some other valvetrain trouble is causing this.

Pull the valve cover off and check those things if your oil and coolant look healthy.

i cracked the injectors and everything went back to normal.don't know what the prob was, but did notice the front injector was allot looser then the other 2.

did look at the oil and coolant and everything was the correct color.
