This is going to sound dumb, but I had the same issue with my old 790 and it turned out to be the seat safety switch.

Nope, happens to all of us. Chock it down to a learning experience.
The symptoms also sounds (after checking everything that the OP already has) like it could be as simple as the tractor isn't quite in neutral. My rig fools me like this sometimes, it's like there is extra tiny notch between the HIGH/NEUTRAL/LOW selector.
