I just found this forum when looking up info on Cub Cadet mowers. Looks like a lot of good info here. I currently have a 2160, about 11 yrs old and am considering upgrading to a Z-force. I plan on visiting a dealer maybe on Monday to have a look in person (instead of just on the web). The dealer where I bought the 2160 has been bought out and now doesn't sell home owner lawn/garden equipment.

I don't really have a lot to mow, under an acre, but think a ztr would be easier for me to maneuver around trees, bushes, etc than another tractor.

I know there are others who make ztr's besides Cub, but since I've had very good luck with my 2160, I am leaning towards getting another Cub.

Any suggestions, major things to watch out for, hints, etc, will be most welcomed.

Thanks,
Dan - Lockport, IL

:welcome: We have a lot of members who would recommend a commercial grade ZTR over a homeowner grade, and if you have the money, they're right. But the homeowner grade is good enough for most of us, in my opinion. My personal preference would be a Toro, maybe because I have a good dealer nearby, but there's certainly nothing wrong with a Cub Cadet. I had one of their lawn tractors myself from '95 to '99. And for mowing, I think you'll definitely like the ZTR better than a lawn tractor.

Welcom Dan! PM sent in regards to the Z-Force. I did basically the same move. A Cub 2544 to the Z-Force. I suspect you'll have a tough time finding a new ZF 44 this time of year. You may have to wait until March/April 2011.
