Hello from Western Pennsylvania. Finally bought a Yanmar.

Hello all. I have reading the site for a while, gathering the knowledge that is on here. I have collected and worked on garden tractors for years, and realized I needed something bigger, but didn't want to invest a enormous amount of money.

I have been searching, and finally found a YM2000 with 489hrs. It came with a sitrex finish mower and a 6ft back blade. I paid $2200 for it all. I also got air and oil filter, a parts manual, new set of finish blades, and two finish wheels. I hope I will get many many years of use.

Best of all, I bet there isn't a computer in the critter! Yanmar must mean sensible or something in Japanese.

There's not even a fuel shutoff solenoid. Or a thermostat. Or fuel gauge. (semi-transparent fuel tank).

These 70's designed Yanmars are beautifully simple. Just the essentials. And dead simple to maintain. Need the alternator? Autozone, ask for '72 Datsun no a/c. $29. One Thermostart module (manifold pre-heat, equivalent to glow plugs). ~$20.

Elegant design, calculated to be maintainable forever by anyone anywhere in the world if you have a screwdriver and a socket set. Nobody builds like that any more.

Get everything up to working order and it should last for Yrs.. You just don't hear of problems that can't be resolved with relative ease. Esp. the YM2000 model. Had mine for quite a few yrs. you just don't hear of people getting rid of or selling them for that reason.
When I looked at your profile I had a good chuckle. And Welcome!!
Been through that county many a time Being From OH. WV. MD.. Which I have family @ also so the comments of stopping in that county came up often. Esp. being a Teen and stuck riding in the car for a few Hrs...... Some real good reasoning..
