Hello from Tucson, Arizona.

My new LS XG3037H is being delivered this afternoon and I can hardly wait. I did lots of research and finally settled on LS as the tractor I wanted. I had to make a trip to the dealer to make sure the size was right for my property, and fell in love with this tractor. I think the salesman sensed my love affair because an hour later I am now the proud owner.

Looking forward to getting some great info and advice on this website.

To the TBN forum Poolman. Glad you joined us here. What size of property do you have and what are you raising? I lived in Tucson twice. 1967-69 & 71-72. When you say north of Tucson, do you mean north of Mt. Lemon or 25 miles north of downtown?

Congrats on the new toy... I mean tractor. Read the manual more than once before you start and go slow at first until you get a good feel for all aspects of your tractor. Make it a regular habit to do the pre-flight checks before taking her out each time.

I have 10 acres and am not raising anything but cactus and mesquite trees right now. I live 10 miles N of Oracle Junction on the highway going to Florence, Arizona if you are familiar with that area. I live a mile off the highway on a dirt road and when the monsoon rains hit us this road is nearly impossible to navigate. I have an old and tired Shibara tractor now that I have been using and it was time to get something a little more dependable.

I agree with you on the pre-flight checks and I will do that every time I use her. Nice to meet you.

Yes, I know that area very well. In 67 & 68, me and my new bride used to drive a 57 Ford, with no A/C, all over the area exploring as we couldn't afford anything else. With gas being 20 cents a gallon and they gave away glasses with a fill up of 8 gallons, it was the cheapest way to spend a day and get a good glass set too boot.

We liked go down the back way off of Mt. Lemon on the Old Mt Lemon road through Oracle and Oracle Junction back to Tucson. At that time the old Mt Lemon road was nothing more than a trail and more than once I would have to get out and figure the best way to go around big rocks going down the mountain.

Cactus and mesquite trees are easy to grow there. I remember a lot of houses, including the one we lived in, had green painted rocks for their front yard to save having to water all the time. Our house was between two arroyos so when the rain came we were blocked in.

You must be talking about the Blakeley's gas station on speedway. I used to pay 19 cents a gallon and they pumped it for you, plus washing the windshield and checking the air in the tires. I still have a complete set of those glasses with the cactus pictures on them.

I used to drive a 40 ford up that back road to Mt. Lemmon and your right, that was always an adventure. But all that has changed over the years and it is not very exciting anymore.

Looks like lots of members around Tucson. When we were full time RVers, we spent nearly all of January, 1990, at the Voyager RV Resort in Tucson, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Of course we did a lot of driving in the area to see the "sights", down to Tombstone and Fort Huachuca (not sure of the spelling), up Mt. Lemon, etc. I've always thought that if I lived anywhere outside Texas, the Tucson area is where I'd want to be. Of course, that was January; don't know if I'd feel the same way in the summer.:laughing: And of course, even the Voyager RV Resort now is nothing like it was when we were there.

Yes, you are correct and when they showed me that I was running a quart low on oil, I would have them put in one of the glass quarts with the rubber pour spouts they kept next to the pumps. Those were the days.... :laughing:

Yes, I was back that way some years ago and could not believe how much Tucson had changed, especially north of the Miracle Mile.
