Tractor
John Deere 5085E
Just wanted to say hello. I have used this site several times over the last few months researching opinions about tractors and etc. I joined a few weeks back but never introduced myself. I live on a 147 acre cow calf farm about 45 outside of Springfield, MO. Happily married to the same wonderful woman for 29 years. We have two grown sons with a daughter still at home. I am the chief estimator for a large building materials supply company. I grew up on a 480 acre dairy farm milking around 70 Holstein cows and back grounding around 100 head of steers. I started using this site to see what others thought about their tractor while researching about the possibility of getting a different tractor. I just purchased my first new tractor ever. A John Deere 5085E. This is the first John Deere tractor I have ever operated and I must say that so far I'm impressed. As I put more hours on the tractor and finally get to load it up and work hard for a couple of days I will tell you more about it.

Thanks for letting me join.

First tractor; pretty exciting. With 85-HP and 4,500 pounds I guess you took T-B-N advice to buy ENOUGH tractor.

You should give your wife a really nice attachment for the tractor for Christmas.

Welcome.

This my first new tractor. I traded in a 170 Allis Chalmers and a 1085 Massey Ferguson. It was hard trading in the Allis. That was my dads first and only new tractor he ever bought. He had massive stroke two years ago.

That is a wise and generous suggestion, jeff9366! Halloween & Thanksgiving are also fine "Implement Giving" occasions if I'm not mistaken.

I knew a guy that onetime got his wife a battery chager for their anniversary gift because his quit. She kept in the garage and wouldn't let him use it. My reply to that is good for her. A guy should think more of his best friend than to do something like that. Plain thoughtless.
