Hi all, I've been reading the forums for awhile and decided to take the plunge. My wife and I have a sales contract on our current house and and are working on finding a place in the country. We live in central Alabama near Birmingham and are looking for 10-20 acres within driving distance to my work.

This is a great site and I've found myself spending hours reading the excellent advice and the project forums!

Welcome from a New England Yankee. What are your plans for the twenty acres?

Well, we're kind of looking to do the Oliver and Lisa thing. My wife grew up in the country in Texas and I spent my summers working in my dad's garden in North Alabama. We've raised 3 sons and they are all out of school, so we would like to discover the country life and enjoy having some space. Plan to put in a garden, fix the house and try to come up with a good excuse to purchase a tractor.
