Same to you and I was stationed here twice then we decided to just live here.

I completely understand since the kids and I wanted to stay but the wife said she was going back home (AL) and we could either go with her or stay. Sometimes I think we made the wrong decision...

Where at in MS? My youngest daughter in a RN at the hospital in Tupelo and our place is 9 miles the from the MS boarder.

Welcome to TBN and the forum. Spent 22 years in Alaska - mainly in the Anchorage area but also one year in Glennallen. In Anchorage, its not so much the cold as the looong, dark winters.

Never been there, but what about long bright summers? Are they still cold?
Anyway I love Alaska's nature.

Even in the summer - longest day of the year - Anchorage will see sunset/sunrise. The time in between sunset/sunrise will be a twilight time. By the time you get to Fairbanks - some 250 miles further north - you will be in the Land of the Midnight Sun. The summer temps will run 55F to 75F in Anchorage. Being its interior, Fairbanks can get considerably warmer in the summer........and we all know about winter in Fairbanks!!

Man - I miss the times in Alaska - they were some of the best experiences I will ever have.
