Anybody here have experience with the AR400 steel Heavy Hitch snow blower scraper edge? The edge on my 47 blower is past due for replacement.

How long did your edge last ?

What is the price difference from the Deere replacement edge ?

Is it part # M142881

The part number is M135649. If you add in the price of the new bolts and nuts and taxes, we're looking at about $122 for the JD vs $185 for the Heavy Hitch AR400. The JD parts are supposedly available for pickup at a local JD shop while I have to wait on the shipping and possible for the Heavy Hitch. The weather may drive my decision as the model trends for this weekend's storm are moving it north which might mean for a nor'easter here. I'll likely need to pick it up tomorrow if tomorrow morning's weather reports support that.

A few years ago, when I needed to replace the blade on my Kubota BX2750D snowblower, i went to the local scrapyard and bought 1/4"x 50" x 3" wide steel, drilled holes to match my blower and just bolted it on. I think it cost me around 20 dollars.

Well, the issue became moot given the current weather trend. I had to go out for a dental appoint this morning and afterward made the run over to JD to get their edge. It is still a pretty hefty piece of steel, but I know it is a softer steel than the Heavy Hitch. We'll see how it holds up for my use. I should have checked the edge before the beginning of the season. I didn't, so my mistake. Now I have to head out in the cold to change it. At least in the garage the temp is above freezing. It looks like I will have to grind off at least a couple of the bolts. I will update on the whole process later. At $115 for the parts, it isn't too bad a deal for now. We'll see how I feel at the end of the season. Cheers and stay warm!

Isn't the scraper reversible?
The one I had a few years ago was, but I still needed to buy new hardware.

I picked up the JD edge today. If nothing else, it is a pretty good chunk of steel. Yes, @bigtiller, it is reversible. I ended up having to grind off all nine bolts to remove the old edge which appears to have been reversed at some point well before I got it based on the wear on the other edge. I opted to do as others have done when replacing their edges to flip the bolts so the flat bolt head is on the underside and the nut is top side. We were supposed to get a coating of snow tonight and that is turning into something measurable which means I'll likely be taking the blower out for a spin tomorrow morning.
