A while back we had a member on here who had a purple tractor. Came from the factory that way ...but I cannot remember the make of it. Starts with a 'L' maybe /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Bob, did you know that Oliver had a purple tractor once? I think it was an 1800 or 1850. They were using it as a demonstration only for their plows, to show that it did not matter what color your tractor was, it would work with an Oliver plow. None were sold that way though.


If I recall correctly, I saw an article about a series of "x" tractors that Oliver produced. Each was a demonstration tractor and each was produced in a different color. I think there were 4 of them. "x" stood for experimental and they were used at shows. I can't remember the years they were made or anything like that, but I do remember seeing the photos of a bright red one included with the article. I believe it was in an issue of the Hart-Parr Oliver's Collectors magazine about 3 or 4 years ago. I'm not sure if the purple tractor you are referring to was one of those 4 machines or not, but Oliver did do some creative things (up until they were fully engulphed by White).

The original color of the Long CUT from LG were purple and at that time were called Landtrac, now they are blue and called Farmtrac, as is the new name of the company... nothing to do with the unique sound of Jinmas that started this thread. The 2 cylinder Jinmas have a unique chug chug to them to be sure, and they are certainly not over mufflered, but they are under $4000 and are proving to be pretty reliable so far. I would have to say it is the BEST diesel tractor under $4000 new that you can buy, similarly equipped.

Funny thing, the search feature on TBN for was not working for the past day, so I went to google and searched on backhoe with a few other key words/numbers and wouldn't you know most of the hits were right here on TBN. Cool huh? So I happened onto a post by the user on here who had a purple tractor: Ed King, his sig said the purple tractor man.

Not sure what kind it was. Google and TBN what a good combo.

Muhammad, mini google is pretty cool, but it runs around 3K for the site search system. Awesome search engine though.

Yup, it was a Jinma. A 2 cylinder, but worse than even a 2 cylinder should sound. I know they can't all sound that bad,
