Interesting to see there is a 3 point hitch complete with top link on the front of that thing. It moves along the road at a pretty good pace, too.
There is getting to be a bit of an issue here in Ohio about tractor speeds and SMV symbols. Supposedly, an SMV equipped piece of machinery is not allowed to go over 25 mph, yet Fastrac, Fendt, and a couple of others will go 45 or more. They are trying to come up with another sign that will let car drivers know the thing ahead of them taking up two lanes is going more than 25, but probably less than 55.
Tractor operators have been ticketed by the Ohio State Highway Patrol for going over 25 in this area. I envision simply putting a round white reflective circle in the center of the SMV triangle as a simple solution to the signage problem -- does anyone else have a better idea for this problem?

In my opinion that should be illegal. If they want to make a tractor that will do 45 MPH then they should be required to meet all DOT requirements for vehicles. Driving a tractor down the road at anything higher than 25 MPH is not safe and downright careless.

Probably do not have any in your part of the country but out here we got Freightliner/peterbuilt tractors with a fork lift built on the back where the fith wheel would normally go. they drive those things 75 and 80 on the interstate. Use them to load and unload a 100 bales at a time. It usually follows the truck hauling the hay.But of course is fully licensed.

Around here Lowes and Home Depot have tandem axle straight trucks with fork lift's that attach to the back. I have also worked on a couple of tri-axle trailers that had them. These are completly different than a farm tractor since they have annual DOT inspections, have DOT numbers, license plates and also have insurance.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that any tractor that will run at higher speeds probably has brakes, tires, steering, and so on designed to deal with those speeds. There are too many Fastracs and others running around to believe they don't.
