May or may not affect you newer CC owners equipped with Kohler engines - and that were only given Cub manuals for their machines with engine maint stuff directly included in lieu of a separate Kohler engine manual..
Seems that Kohler revised their oil level checking procedure on at least the courage vertical twins early this year from "chk with dipstick resting on threads" to " fully thread and seat the dipstick cap in to obtain correct oil level chk" . The CC manual that came with my new tractor did not reflect this change.
The related CC owners manuals have not been updated nor a bulletin issued to reflect such... to my knowledge.
The Kohler manual number referred to here is 32 590 01-B revised 2/09.
Really dunno about what potential harm may be done by running engine effectively a tad overfull of oil, but don't relish a possible ticking time bomb going off later, either. But, take this info FWIW to you... each to his own.

I think that has been posted before, but newer owners need to know this. Thanks for posting it.

As I stated at 'the other site' the Command engine's dipstick is a BEAR to get back down all the way. I could see someone running it with it not seated all the way. Just a heads up for that engine.

Yeah they've definitely made some changes over the years. My ~2005 model year Command 20 has a regular automotive style engine oil dipstick; Thin metal tube with a bayonet/loop pull. There's no mistaking how to check those.
