To be honest with you, I thought do we really need headlights on a lawn tractor? The second question I had was, do they really help? Well I started to cut my grass around 5:00 p.m. and in 10 min. it started to rain. It was more like a rain shower for 10 min. but I held off cutting the grass. It was sunny for 2 more hours. At 7:30 p.m. I started to cut my grass and by 8:00 I turned the headlights on. Well I'll be, not only do we need headlights on the tractor, but they helped me see the row that I cut to the left of me, so I could steer my tractor to the right of it and cut a nice straight line. Ok, I was impressed. They do make a nice difference. However it's hard to look over your lawn at 8:15 and decide if you missed any area though.

There's a certain pleasure in mowing after dark. For one thing, it's not so hot. Backing up is a bit risky, though, unless you have lights in the rear. And the grass is usually damp which tends to make it cake up under the mower deck.

A few times I've mowed until after 11pm (no neighbors near me). It's nice to wake up in the morning and see the newly mowed area (except for the spots you missed!).

If you mow a large area in a circular pattern, the bugs keep jumping into the deeper uncut portion, and when you get to those last few swipes, the bugs are all over you! This happens during the day, too, but it's even worse at night. Anyone else notice this phenomenon?
