To be honest with you, I thought do we really need headlights on a lawn tractor? The second question I had was, do they really help? Well I started to cut my grass around 5:00 p.m. and in 10 min. it started to rain. It was more like a rain shower for 10 min. but I held off cutting the grass. It was sunny for 2 more hours. At 7:30 p.m. I started to cut my grass and by 8:00 I turned the headlights on. Well I'll be, not only do we need headlights on the tractor, but they helped me see the row that I cut to the left of me, so I could steer my tractor to the right of it and cut a nice straight line. Ok, I was impressed. They do make a nice difference. However it's hard to look over your lawn at 8:15 and decide if you missed any area though.
