'River Dave' arrested after returning to live at cabin site

"River Dave" was the subject of discussion here and many other places last summer. Apparently despite all of the generosity he was shown, he prefers to squat on somebody else's property.

I can understand where he's coming from... when I retire in a couple of years I would love to spend much of my time in a remote place next to the water. The difference is that I would buy the land first...

Because when you pick the best spot, others notice and want to be close to that spot. It's just that simple.

It's like when I go ice fishing. I can walk out onto a lake and be the only one there. If someone else shows up, I can almost guarantee that they'll come up and set up within talking distance on a 2-300 acre lake.

Unless you stop paying property taxes of federal "income" taxes and then the gov't will come take what is yours.

Yep. Nobody really “owns” land. They get to live there with the agreement they pay property taxes.
