HDTV and close caption

I am receiving beautiful HDTV from my rabbit ears from the stations about 60 miles away. However I am not able to use the close caption unless I go the the same station that is not HDTV. Is their a way to get CC and HDTV via air? Thanks.

I read through all this, (informative to say the least), but I didn't see anything mentioned about CC.

My TV has a option for analog and digital closed captions. I have cable so it may not apply to over air signals.

Found it. Only when I'm on a HD channel more options appear on the menu screen. I had to take it out of the "default" mode and change it to "CC1". CC1 will close caption HDTV but not regular TV. I will have to go through several steps in the menu when I go from regular TV to HDTV if I want CC.

I'm just gettin' a smile on my face thinking of Don watching HDTV in his little cabin way out in the boonies. Ain't this a wonderful country?

Jim I thought would have to get Satellite AND pay an extra $10 a month to utilize the HD. When I plugged it in I was so surprised I could receive the perfect HD picture out here in the boonies The rabbit ears (from my old 12" TV) are Phillips (Walmart's best).

So far we've not gotten HDTV, nor have we gotten digital TV signals, but I'm one whose hearing is so bad that I don't watch TV programs that are not closed captioned.

Need to have TV in Closed Caption/Sound Off mode so he can hear if someone is at the gate making a delivery.
