Bigger, more expensive shop vacs. Anyone know about them? Not talking about anything you would get in your Big BOX store.

What is a three stage Milwaukee vac?

On a 45 Gallon shop vac, can one put a garbage bag in there?

I have a BIG mess of raccoon poop and destroyed white styrofoam in my barn. Want to put the vac outside (for air quality issues) and use a long hose.

I am worried the styrofoam will simply block the vac inlet and not settle into the canister.

Used central vacs are cheaply available. Would they be better for this? Do any have bags. Big bags?

Thanks for any information.

In another life, I use to repair vacuums, hundreds of them, including shop vacs, and shop vacs are pretty much use-em, when they die, throw them away and buy another...

I don't know if that holds true for Milwaukee, Fein and other high end shop vacs or not?

I have used them for delicate excavating. I have to do more of that soon, around utilities and having a larger one, after I'm done in the barn would be nice.

Are all central vacs the same? Do some have larger bins?

No, all central vacs aren't the same, some even exhaust outside...

Shop vac is really better for trash though.

Thanks. I have a SS "Shop Vac Brand" that has a 2" hose. Funny, now that I think about it, that Milwaukee unit doesn't seem to have a hose connection that big. It has a big brass tap on the bottom of the 45 gallon drum, so maybe it's more designed for sucking water. A rental outfit machine.

Just put some panyhose over the filter...

I'm afraid the million bits of styrofoam will quickly block any filter. AND, I would love to have them go into a burnable bag, rather than try and remove these statically charged bits from a canister along with the raccoon poop!

Attach a mesh bag over the inlet on the inside of the shop vac. That will collect the foam and fill the bag (pantyhose) rather than plug the filter. When it's full, remove the panty hose and tie the top closed so you can toss it in the trash. Repeat until finished, filling as many pantyhose as needed.
