HD Alternator on BX2230

How can you tell if your tractor has the upgraded HD alternator on it?

The origional equip is a dynamo. It is small round and grey with no vent slots. The upgrade alternator looks just like the alternator on your car, only a lot smaller. It is a silver (aluminum) color with air vent slots and is probably about 2 times the size of the origional (dynamo) one.

What would happen if a 100Amp car alternator were used instead of the OEM dynamo?

You would need to take it to South America and have that tribe that did head shrinking, shrink that 100 amp alternator just to get it under the hood.

I looked it has no vent , but does have the fan belt around its pully - is that a dyno? If so does anyone know what the HD alternator upgrade costs?
Can one add it with no othe mods?

If it is painted grey, then it is a dynamo. If it looks like a miniature car alternator, then it is the higher output alternator. They are relatively easy to install, and if you do a search, you will find some pictures and text as to how to do the installation. I don't know the current price, but they were about $80 a few years ago. The directions that come with it, are not the best, but it is relatively straight forward.
