going this week to take a look at each model both are used and the jd has new rollers and chains, the nh has new stabilizer bars,roller bearings,tires, belts/chains. looking for some insight on each model pros/cons of each. i have mowed w/ both brands of machines in the past when i worked on a dairy, except the jd model i ran was a disc 1327 but i also ran both sickle and disc nh models 479 and a 411. i'd love a disc mower but just can't justify the price right now as i also need a newer bigger hp tractor, which is also in the works.

I've run JD 1207s, 1209s, and I have a 1217 I've decided to sell right now. I find them to be good all around machines. Other than rock damage and replacing bearings, I've never had a major issue with one in years of service.

When I compare cyclebar mowers I think about a 12 foot NH I ran some years ago, which had the hydraulic pivot tongue which allowed you with the shift of a lever to cut either side, easily adjust for fences or rocks, and not have to dismount to run down the road or get through gates and that feature is the cat's pajamas--which I guess isn't relevant to your question.

What's the aking price for the 1207? I'm trying to figure out what I ought to ask for mine.

i think they asking $1500 for the 1207. theres another guy in my town that has a 1217 for sale and he's asking $3500 and that machine has sat in the weeds for about 5 yrs. i think he thinks its gold or something, surprisingly the paint is still in great shape. i didn't want to insult him and offer him 1k or less for it because hes a nice older guy.

$1500 on the 1207 you describe would be a real good buy here in central Ky. I have ran both and prefer the JD over the NH. Ken Sweet
