Haybine saved by Deere

My neighbors across the street have a nice piece of property. They keep horses and cows, and cut hay. Today I saw his New Holland Haybine stuck where the field meets the road, in a foot of muck. His son towed him out with their John Deere 2020, which is a favorite of mine. Ahh, life is good!

Show him you know something helpful: Next time he's stuck, tell him to chain the spinning wheel so it can't turn. Then the wheel with traction will rotate the machine around until it can bite its way out. These MoCos have hydraulic drive. Been there...

Another trick is to lock the spinning wheel's brake if that model has dual brakes. (NH 1499 ?) Tell him you want to borrow it sometime to mow your lawn. They do a nice job and the sickle cutter leaves a fascinating diamond pattern in the grass.

My unlce has an old 2020 just like that, they are one well built tractor meant to do lots of heavy work for their size.
