Rotary Cutter HayBine ? Rotary Cutter ?

   / HayBine ? Rotary Cutter ? #11
I see what youæ±*e saying, and that makes sense. When I think grass hay around here, I知 thinking of things like timothy and orchard grass, which do have the long central stem. Cracking that stem (running it through the rollers) does seem to help dry the grass significantly faster.

You guys up north have more variables in terms of forage types and weather than we have down here. That's why some of the more interesting research is done up in your neck of the woods. Down here we deal mostly with bermuda hybrids (Tifton 85, Coastal, Jiggs) or Bahia and our weather is either hot & wet or hot & dry. If you're going to use a Moco the best thing is a discbine with impeller. However, unless you are doing a lot of acres, 90% of the time you'll get the same results with a disc or sickle mower and you don't need to drag the heaver Moco around. I couldn't find the paper I was looking for, but attached is a presentation that explains the differences. Sorry, but I had to take out a couple of slides to get the size down.
