Hay Rake

Took a 20 year old rake and in a week turned it into a dependable piece of equipment. A lot of welding, sandblasting, and painting.

Beautiful. What makes the wheels turn? I don't see anything that looks big enough to be a hydraulic motor, or a gear set.

Gravity and contact with the ground makes the wheels turn. There is a hydraulic ram that raises and lowers the arms.

Excellent job Herr! I have been looking for one of those for a while. Missed one at an auction this spring for $1100.

Bez, around here we call 'em Turkey Tail rakes. they are a very simple design and do a real good job once you learn how to run 'em.

OK, so I'm dense. I've used dump rakes to make windrows, so I understand what the goal is. But don't the tined wheels have to turn in such a way that they throw the hay away from the path of the tractor, so it ends up in two widely spaced windrows? It looks to me like the tined wheels would just freewheel in the wrong direction as they contacted the mowed grass. I'm sure I'll slap myself in the forehead once I see how this works...

Looks great. I would love to have a rake like that one. Simple, Robust and easy to fix.

It actually pulls 3 windrows into 1 directly out the back. Maybe this angle is better.
