Hay Making on a Different Scale

It qualifies as a REAL farm eruck now.... Ran my discbine into a fence post and bent the side shield on the right side trying to get all the forage cut, From here in out I'll stay a foot off the fence line. That side shield is over 500 bucks at NH. This winter I'll take it off and maybe repair it with some hillbilly bodywork.

I asume the corroded rim is from running CACL, correct? Something I never do. CACL is planned obsolence. Got 35 4x5 tight wrapped bales of the little piece I'm doing now, I was surprised. Got it off, parked the bales on the headlands and sprayed the field with my usual DEF and water mix to get the alfalfa growing well for possibley a September-October cut if the weather cooperates.

I need to change the knives on the disc bine as well as hardface the skid shoes. Best price I've found for the serrated cutter knives I use is Shoup. About 1/4th of the NH price. Same knife as well. I'll probably change the gear oil in the cutter bar as well. The sandy loam we are on plays heck on anyrhing ground contact.

My customer will drop off a trailer, I'll load them and away they go.

What happened to the cab interior?

Sorry to hear about the truck. You have been having a terrible year, the weather, the equipment issues. I know its easy to say but don't let it get you down. I hope things get better for you!

Raccoon came up through the battery access door during the winter.

Europe has long been manufacturing hay equipment and a way of life for so many family dairy farms…

What happened to your round baler that will take it out of commission that long?
Tensioning system went somewhere. Working on troubleshooting in free time. The easiest fix did not work. Replacing the pressure relief valve. Just narrowed down where to look next. Leaning toward the belt tension cylinder. Ran some tests and waiting on what to do next. Then just need time to fix. Ordered tech manual. It was time. Blowing hydraulic oil points to an issue. Several components just a process to troubleshoot.

Curious as to what make of round baler and if it's a NH, I have the adapter as well as the liquid filled gage to check the bailing pressure if you want it, I can send it to you. When I traded the NH for the Kubota, the gage and adapter stayed here. Let me know and you can have it as I have no use for it anymore. The Kubota has the built into the running gear, both the gage as well as the electronic servo to control the pressure. Again, you have my physical address and phone number. Just taking up room in the tool chest now. I believe I also have the pertinent instructions for setting the tension cylinder as well. Never had to but was prepared anyway.

If I remember correctly, the NH had one cylinder whereas the Kubota has 2, one on each side of the bale chamber completely under the side shrouds, never to be seen, unlike the NH.

Good to have neighbors will to help. I don't have that here as my neighbore are all row croppers or truck farmers and while I have the prime movers available, I have no extra hay tools available.
