I like most others strive to bale good quality horse hay because that is where the maximum profit is but unfortunately the weather doesn't always cooperate no matter how hard we try to watch the weather reports and try to decide on a favorable pattern sometimes we just wind up with a lesser quality product but I like Wolverine have cows and am able to utilize some and sell some to other cattle owners at about half of what I would have made if it was horse quality hay. If it wasn't for the cow hay market down here I would probably quit because there really isn't another market for hay that gets rained on like up North with the mushroom farms buying it. When I put up cow hay I still try to get it rolled as dry as I can because high moisture hay is IMO not something I want to sell to anyone.Charlie (and others), thank you for sharing your experience this week and I have a question for you.
Knowing that it costs money each time you have to rake or ted your hay, does there come a point where you think "If I have to ted this again and then rake it again then I'm losing money on this cutting."
Thank you again for allowing us to enjoy your experience and the pictures you post.
