Fellas,

I'm having a challenging time finding dust caps for the female coupler (as shown). I went to several hydraulic hose shops and they don't carry this size for some reason. I found the cap for the male coupler but not for the female coupler. I did find a plug that goes inside the female unit but it's crap. No way will that keep the dirt out of the coupler.

The OD of the female coupler is 1.5". Let me know where you are sourcing yours from.

So you are looking for a cap for the female QD similar to the cap for the male QD end? :confused3: As far as I know of, a purpose built QD cap for covering the entire female end does not exist. ALL of the purpose made female QD covers are plugs. There are several manufacturers of these, and just like everything else, there are ones that are better than others. ;)

Unless you're in some extreme conditions, the plugs that normally come with female QDs fit flush up against the face of the coupler, and have a groove on the plug that gets captured by the spring loaded balls so it can't come out, and maintain the seal. The outside surface of the female end is knurled, so I don't see how any cover could seal very well even if it fit the diameter. You might put a plastic bag over it and tie wrap it, but I'd be concerned about moisture condensing in the bag.

I put a plastic bag over mine and zip tied - as BeezFun has suggested. However, I also put a few holes in the bottom of the plastic bag which allows any liquids inside, to drain out. Works for me as the existing plastic covers I have for the QC keep falling off.

Yep. We have some made by Pioneer that we bought at Tractor Supply (this model: Pioneer Dust Plug for 1/2 in. ISO Coupler, Standard Black - Tractor Supply Co.) and they work fairly well in our 1/2" Pioneer couplers.
We also have some for the female side (these: Pioneer Dust Cap for 1/2 in. ISO Tip, Red for Identification - Tractor Supply Co.) which work well, but after a year to two, they get loose and require a zip tie around the "mouth" to keep them fitting snugly:

Year ago I purchased a set of soft rubber plugs for female ends. they friction fit in and worked great they had a 6 inch long loop of rubber on the ends for attachment to implement I believe I bought them at Princess Auto up here in Canada I their hydraulics dept. I am not sure if they would have them on their web-site or not. Regardless, they are or were available out there somewhere.

Cheers

Roger

This is the cap that I found in town but it won't keep the dirt out, no way.

I can find them for the pneumatic female coupler (red) but not the hydraulic coupler

Aaron, I don't see a complete cap for the female ends. All I see are the std type plugs for the female ends and caps for the male ends.

Alia 176, I guess that I don't understand why a person even wants caps for the female ends. Get a good plug and you will be dirt free. Just not that big of a deal IMO. ;)

I can see why those won't work very well, they don't have a groove that can be captured by the balls to keep it on tight. That first link Azclan posted are the style I have and they stay on tight and seal well. The second link he posted looks like exactly what you're looking for, I've never seen those and I go to TSC more often than I like to admit.

Alright, alright, I'll return these caps and pick up the correct ones...assuming they have some.
