Hi Alan,
God bless you, and may he guide your surgeon and doctors' hands and minds to the best treatment and recovery for you.
The good news is that you did not say anything about them having found any tumors elsewhere, especially in your other kidney, and that they must think that you're healthy enough to have the radical surgery. God willing and the creek don't rise, you'll make it through this and see daylight on the other side, but it will be a long haul, and you have to remember to smile and stay positive, even when you don't feel like it. There is really good evidence that maintaining a good attitude, even if you feel like you're faking it, is hugely associated with good outcomes and quicker, more complete recoveries. Prayer has also been shown to help, even when it is from a group of folks you never met (like us), and as someone else already said, we got that covered for you.
