Hello bota brothers,

I purchased a bx24 less than a year ago. Great machine, however I would like to trade it for a B3030. My bx has less than 60 hrs on it. I went to my dealer to see what we could work out. This was his offer

B3030 R4 tires $15,000
LA403 54" bucket $3700
BH75 12" bucket $6500
72" MMM $3200
total $28,400

Trade in value

BX24 R4 tires, 54" fine cut MMM $12,000

From what others are paying his quote seems very high. I am in North Florida. Does my regional price vary that much? What do you guys think. Thanks in advanced.

Thanks for your input lawnking, I'm trying to figure if prices have gone up that much of if it's a regional thing. I know the dollar is weak, but not that weak.

Sounds very reasonable. Maybe, $ 500 higher than what I saw last year for the package I put in quotes.

Some folks appear to get sreaming deals, the best I could do last October was:

B3030 - $15,025
Loader - $3,283
60" MMM - $2,270
BH - $6,465
Blade with hitch - $1,995
Block Heater - $50
Bagger - $1,520 later canceled this for core aerator credit
Work lights - $65 ea
Plus tax
Trade BX23 with mower, blade and bagger, $15,800

The advantage to the trade was the CT sales tax savings of 6% of the $15,800

My dealer was going to give me 11,200 for a BX23 with 400 hours, 60" mmm. I sold it outright for 13,500 and could have done so probably 7 or 10 times over. Sell your machine outright!!!;) ;) ;)

Hi boogerman2000,

I have been contemplating that option, I would have liked to strike a deal with my dealer, however, I do realize I might be better off selling it privately. What would be a fair asking price for my bx24?

Thanks for the info Madslick and AMR. Like boogerman2000 suggested, I may be better off selling it privately.

Just make sure that if you don't trade you get enough extra to cover the additional sales tax. With only 60 hours on your machine and the mower I would say that you could easily ask 15,000 for it. That is unless you rolled it down a hill, drove it into the ocean or had it attacked by a wild pack of mule deer.:D :D :D

I'm not a dealer but depending on the availability of the BXs in your area(Florida) I'd say you could definitely get that or darn close.

Barlow Farm Equipment was going to give me 12,500 for the BX23 sight unseen. You might want to check them out for a quote. Barlow Equipment - Home of the Kubota Tractor Package Builder

Good Luck and let us know how you make out!

Thanks again boogerman2000, fortunately no wild pack of mule deer, does a swarm of angry yellowjackets count, you should have seen them go after the tractor.

I sold my B3030 to a member here & tractorbynet. I think i gave him a great deal on a 300 hour cherry condition machine, and i bet he would agree! The dealer trade in offer was insulting, thousands less than i sold it for. Dont dealer trade, you will get screwed.

My dealer always recommends that it's better to sell the old tractor yourself. He has to sell it at what you could sell it, which means he has to buy it for less than that in order to make a profit.

Find out about the sales tax rules in your state. In CA, if I traded my BX for a B3030, they don't mark down the transaction due to the trade in. It is considered two separate transactions. I make a wholesale sale to him on the BX, then I buy the B3030 and pay tax on the full amount, just as if I had kept the BX. Different states may have different rules, so it would be helpful to know how that works in your state before doing anything.

Good luck with your decision.

Hey Tom,

My first inclination is to sell it on my own. Your comments on tax implications are an excellent point. I have to look into that a little closer. I was somewhat surprised at the quote I received from my dealer on the B3030. Perhaps my expectations were unrealilstic, there appears to be a rather significant price difference from dealer to dealer.

Thanks for your input lawnking, when I approached my dealer I went in knowing fully well his price would be a lot lower than I could probably sell it on my own. As I stated to Tom, my big surprise was his quote on the B3030. There are two more Kubota dealers I will be obtaining quotes from, that may give me a better understanding of the pricing for my area. Thanks again,
