Have 7-14 R1 4PR. Upgrade to 6PR or fill?

I've gotten two flats on these tires ever since I bought the tractor (about a month or so). They came with regency brand 7-14 R1 fronts which are 4 ply. Should I upgrade to 6 ply tires, or fill them with foam/slime? I'm doing some loader work, and sometime ride around boards with nails, barbed wire, and other goodies. Now I have a slow leak (but not slow enough!).

From what I've researched, if I fill them, it will pretty much mean I need to get new rims if I need to replace the tires.

6 ply will not stop nails, barbed wire or other goodies. Have them filled if you don't want flats.

Agree on fill what you have. I buy Berryman's sealer because, even though Slime is available most everywhere there are adverse remarks about it's usage and the Berryman's works for me. I only install what I think will cover the tire, (run tire pressure to max to get it sealed then back to normal) where the leak occurs which isn't all that much. If I fill and test later and still leaking, I add more till it stops and always run the tire a good bit at a good speed to get it dispersed inside the tire. If you don't find it at one farm store, try another.

You could get tubes for the tires then treat the tubes. That way no solution gets into contact with the rims.

Since we are on the subject: The 3910 I bought last year had new tread on the tires, but no idea as to when they were installed. One rear had a slow leak. Exploration found a thorn (Locust) embedded in the sidewall half way up. Tire was tube type, 13.6x28 4 ply and air pressure was around 10 psi or a bit over....18 psi rating. I did the plug process with lots of cement and it has held without a problem for over 6 months. So I proved that you can plug a tube. I assume that the tube had been against the tire long enough and in hot enough weather that it stuck to the tire enough to accept the seal.

I put 32 ounces of blue-label slime inside of it. It might not be the best, but it looks like a new tire and front wheel are (relatively) inexpensive. Thank you for preventing me from buying more tires and going through the process of dismounting/mounting. The slime seems to be holding up so far!
