Hauling Costs

I'm trying to get numbers on shipping a tractor, i've been told 1.5-2.0 a mile, is that round trip or one way? do they charge for the return empty generally? I'm using Uship, are there better options?

If you're using Uship, it's probably one way, but you need to ask them to clarify how they charge. There may or may not be a charge for the return trip. Best to get a good understanding on all the charges and terms of payment. I'm aware of one instance where the price was agreed to, then an additional 60 gallons of diesel was billed. Who does the loading and unloading? Do they have ramps or a tilt bed to drive the tractor on?

P.S. I believe that most truckers will charge about $2/mile whether it is loaded or unloaded. If it is 100 miles from pickup to drop off, that's 200 miles times $2/mile. If they can pick up another load for the return trip you may not have to pay the return.

I have used U-ship with satisfaction for palletized loads.

I am uncertain if U-ship is equipped to handle un-palletized loads as U-ship is an LTL (less than truck load)
transporter. U-ship freight normally passes through intermediate freight depots where loads are moved on and off trucks with fork lifts.

I could certainly be WRONG.

yea you can move tractors i have 7 people talking to me about it, prices are becoming much more normal now
