Hauling a tractor with a pickup

The tractor and loader combo probably weighs in at around 4000# so he is probably maxed out on his dually...
He could be tied down to a frame mounted hitch...
Not something that I would personally do but the dually can handle the weight...
I would be more concerned with the bucket on the roof top...
I don't know if I could trust that frame over the roof...

Looks to me like bcp is right, the stump grinder is shown attached to the truck so I would assume he pulls it to site then has to unload the tractor. He would need some heavy ramps to do this so I'm thinking the floor is/are the ramps. Still not sure why the tailgate is there though, I would think it would be in the way. But I still hope it's just a photo op for the ad.

In bcp's photos the grinder is not attached to the truck.Or are my eyes bad?

mcald62, I took another look and you are right the grinder is right behind the truck but not hooked on. The tractor is sitting on something though.

Looks like it's steel.Maybe it slides out somehow.

Nah, I think it's a dumb bed. He just raises it up and the tractor simply rolls out the back! Now, I haven't quite figured out he gets it back in there?? Maybe he sets the loader bucket up near the front of the bed, raises up the front of tractor with it, then just drives it up a couple feet until the front tires are in, then he raises the bucket all the way up (to clear the cab) and drives it in the rest of the way. Yeah, that's it!!!

That's just too much effort, lots easier to get a big trailer to carry the tractor and the stump grinder!

The question is, would you hire him?

The giveaway is the tail gate. There's no way it could support any where near that much weight. I bought a gun safe a few years ago and the dealer refused to load it unless I removed the tail gate and the safe was only 800 lbs. I didn't argue.

I loaded a JD 755 in a pick up once. much smaller tractor and I went out and bought a trailer. then worked on fixing the tail gate.:mur:

People who drive Dodges can normally come up with some way to get the job done....Dry weight on my JD4300 was 2900lbs. No reason why he wouldn't add tie downs in the box. I'd hire him just for his ability to think outside the box (might check him out first)
