I recently got permission to buy a dozer:) . The machine I am looking at weighs approx. 13,000 lbs. We have a Chevy 3/4HD truck with the diesel and Allison transmission. The trailer is a goose neck rated at 14,000 lbs. Now I know that the weight is more than the trailer and truck are rated for. But the machine is about 60 miles away and I would imagine I am looking at at least $300.00 to $400.00 to get it delivered. The roads are flat up until the last 10 miles or so. What does anyone think? I used to regularly pull tag trailer with about 10,000 lbs. behind a 1 ton truck. To me, the tag trailer behind a 1 ton is more dangerous than the overloaded goose neck behind the 3/4 ton.

Well, depending on what your GN weighs...3000 to 6000lbs...you will be overweight a minimum of 2000 lbs to 4000lbs+

I hope your tires don't have any dry rot...

And I definitely hope you don't run into a mobile DOT enforcement vehicle...

Personally, I have a lowboy deliver it...:)

A one time deal. I would load er up and be on my way. You just gotta remember your haulin heavy. That truck will for sure pull it no problem. Double check trailer tires.

I've done, my tractor equipped a particular way is way overweight, about 12k.
on a 14k GN trailer, 3/4 ton chevy (duramax, allison)

Works fine. Heck, I even had a brake spring go and one fo the trailer brakes was on the whole time, I didn't notice. (I did after I got there, "what's that smell?")

Don't run into a mobile DOT enforcement (move it on saturday), that would be bad.

$300 to $400 to get it hauled. In Kentucky where I live, considering the laws you're breaking, you might be looking at $2000 to $3000 worth of fines, still having to pay that $300 to $400 to get it hauled (after the Vehicle Enforcement Officer "parks" you) not including the potential for disaster.

You MAY "get away with it".

Bad advice on behalf of anyone recommending you try. I guess they'll be there to pitch in on the ticket????

If you can afford the dozer, you can afford the delivery cost.

Dunno' about Saturday but it sure is not unusual to have the scale open on I-81 just over the PA line below Binghamton on a Sunday.

I think your truck will haul it just fine, may want to borrow a heavier trailer from your buddy, but you may be ok with yours

Okay first of all I will enlighten you on what I have and do....
I have a 2000 f250 diesel extended cab 4 wd long box..Licensed for a combination weight of 24,500
and a 2004 chevy crew cab dually 4wd duramax and allison...licenced for 26,000 capable of licensing for a combination weight of 28,5000 but choose
to licence it for 26,000 to get away from needing a cdl and fuel tax.

The weight you are carring is nothing for your equipment to handle I am figuring you will come in close to the 24,000 lbs
The only problem you are facing is improper weight registeration which will result in a fine.
