TC55DA and TC33D
The distance between the 2 rear tires is so small that i definatly need to change the rims around and widen it out. I am going to hay with it and need to at least straddle a windrow and it must be only like 3 feet between the wheels. I am going at least 4 inches wider maybe 8. I have yet to see a picture of anybody's TC55D with the rims flipped. just curiuos if anyone has.

The stealership did that before I took delivery on my TC55DA. Tires are also loaded.

Dealer did for me also before delivery (TC48)...in order to get clearance for chains. I haven't ended up using the chains but I have left them turned out..nice stability. It does have me looking for a wider rotary mower...
tires also loaded.

Roto,

The specifications section of the owners manual gives you the wheel tread settings for each axle and type tire. Depending upon which tire you have there are multiple positions (e.g., R1 AGs have 6 available positions and about 20" min/max diff.) along with the nominal change per position (usually about 4").

This pattern on my R4s is probably similar to yours and gives me a width of 33.5" inside to inside (513/8" center to center).

I helped a neighbor swap his fluid filled R4s (sorry no photos available) and it is definately a two MAN evolution to avoid letting those monsters get away from you.

You can see the bolt pattern on the dish allows additional width positions besides just swapping sides of the tractor to keep the tread pattern the same.

Good Luck and get a strong buddy.

Looks like there is one narrower position available if the tires dont hit.

Im well aware of all the positions and have read manual through. I have a B-hoe which can lift back end off the ground and dont have loaded tires so for me its a cake walk to use my air gun and wind them off NASCAR style and swicth sides. I just wanted some pics or to see if others have done that.

Im not sure if it will go to that narrow setting. Pretty darn narrow right now. The outside of both front and rear tires are lined up from factory but i may make the centers line up which i may have to move them out 2 to 4 inches each. havent measured yet really.

Thanks for the info

Yeah, it looks that way to me also, but not from the inside. That's as close as you can get with R4s, plus that center to center distance matches the operator manual's narrowest setting.

Mike, didn't mean to imply that you weren't aware of the positions or the manual, sorry. I realize we have a wide array of expertise as TBN member and guests, just thought the photo/info would help those that were interested. We've used the BH as well, nice floor jack huh? Still found it usefull to have someone keep that tire balanced while playing with it, cause once it starts leaning too far, as you know, it easily becomes a losing effort to hold on to it. Wish I had a photo of my neighbor's tires, cause I think they'd be what you were looking for. He flipped the fronts as well as the rear.

MadDog, NO biggy:) anytime we are talking New Holland i will be smiling:D

yeah i have loaded tires on my big tractor and you dont want them to start leaning or its all over but i think i can handle these non-loaded tires myself.

I was just looking at the manual. 8 settings for Ag tires but only 7 for R4 because you cant go in any further or it will hit. I dont like the fact that they set to the minimum but i think its because the Outside to outside measurement is 6 feet at narrowest setting and that is so with a 6 foot mower or bush-hog or the 6 foot bucket plowing snow or 6 foot rototiller and that sort of thing which makes sense i guess. The outside to ouside measure can go from 6 feet to 8 feet and i think they should set it to 7 feet and put a 7 foot bucket on there. I think the 6 foot is too small for that tractor. Another thing is setting the tires out 2 inches each will make the center to center measurements the same from front to back and gain 4 inches of stability and not interfear much with any 6 foot implements. I may go that route but would like it a little wider. i will see what it looks like.

edit: just looked at your rims again and if i set mine like that i would have 42 inches between and 80 inches outside to outside. I may change to that setting which is position D in TC55 manual.

Roger that on tractor talk. :D Plus I'm like a kid with our new camera having discovered how to get decent size pics to post. Still can't figure out how to keep them from coming up automatically instead of having the viewer click on them. Wish there was a discussion section that just gave the gouge on how to use all the features and sections.

Being that your 55 is much larger than my 40 I can see where you get the 8/7 settings vs my 6/5. I can't use those last two positions that you can because they'd be way too close together. Since your tires aren't loaded, do you use wheel weights when you need the additional rear stability/traction?

MadDog,

Just click on the button below that says "Manage Attachments" and it will facilitate an upload of images that then appear as a link in your post. See my attachment for a pictorial :)
