I used a box scraper on the back of an ag type tractor and I'm wondering how the bobcat box blade compares. It would seem like the wheels would be a problem.

jmf,

I've used both the 3pt and hitch type (with wheels) box blades on ag tractors. I much prefer the hitch type.

I've been keeping an eye out for a deal on a box blade for the Toolcat but I am only looking for models with wheels. My use would be on gravel or dirt and I think the wheels would provide better depth control as well as cushion the gouging affect on uneven surfaces. If I were going to use it on hard surfaces for pushing snow or manure I would look for one without wheels.

I assume you're talking about the Bobcat box blade without the laser. Have you priced a new one, what would you consider a deal?

In my experience, just a box is not enough. Teeth are required.

The Bobcat model is the one I am thinking of. I believe New Holland has a similar one too. I don't have a good read on what these go for new or used yet. My use would be limited to grading only. I don't have a need for rippers.

i have used a tractor type king kutter mounted to a 3 pt adapter on the toolcat. works great for final grading - drop the teeth down to get rid of compaction. some people say the box blade is the most useful implement. I highly recomend it. as for gouging- it hasnt been an issue because the wings and the double blade act as their own gauge. some fellas may argue that they can do a perfect finish grade with a bucket- but the box blade with teeth solves the compaction issue and is faster in my opinion.

I have also rented a harly rake - those things are the cats meow- Or go with the poor mans program and buy a $350 king kutter and weld a attachment plate on it- 500 bucks and your in business.
