Has anyone seen the new Pontiac GTO(Holden Monaro)

I like the looks of the new GTO. And it looks like GM will give it some guts too. The more I look at it, the more it looks very similar to the Volvo C70 coupe, but with a slightly lower tail. The C70 coupe is now discontinued as of 2003(?) but is still available in a convertible and comes with a high pressure turbo and is a fast luxo-cruiser. The coupe was featured in the movie THE SAINT with Val Kilmer about 7 or 8 years ago?

OK, now I've looked at the Volvo and the Holden/Pontiac pictures side by side. I am amazed. Did the designers at GM/Holden just buy a Volvo and put new name plates on it?

GaryM . . . I almost bought a P1800 convertible about 5 years ago, it was a custom job, cheap and fun, but the folding top was missing and it needed to be totally fabricated, something I was not prepared to do or have done. But I've had several Volvos, including a C70. But I still love those old ones. I ended up buying an Avanti Convertible. One of maybe a couple hundred ever produced. Mine was also one of the few Avanti's produced in Ohio, about 98% of the Avantis were made in Indiana.
Fivestring . . . I am not aware of any replacement coming down the line for the Camaro/Firebird. I thought they were going to be eliminated? The 67-69 Camaro SS is my all time favorite car, now if they would bring back that body style they would really have something going on.
I am still disappointed in the lack of originality in the design of the new Holden/GTO. For GM to bring out a 2004/2005 model car to be a copy of a 1998 car made by its chief rival (Volvo is owned by Ford) seems like a high degree of dishonesty . . . and I am trying to be polite. I presume the GTO is faster than the Volvo, but as the High Pressure Turbo engine in the Volvo is plenty fast, I guess that remains to be seen on the street. And as the C70 has ultra sticky low profile tires and a pretty tight suspension, it will certainly take a lot for the Holden/GTO to out run the C70 in a slolom.
I guess I was hoping for the GTO to be the new supercar of the regular guy. What a disappontment.

I was under the impression that the 'new' GTO is nothing more than a Pontiac that's been available in Australia for a while. IOW, there was no designing involved. The blokes in Australia are the modern day Yenko or Baldwins. Drop a bigger engine in a smaller vehicle. GM saw what they were doing and simply decided to make it and market it in the states.
