Has anyone modified the hst pedals on bx series to eliminate heel reverse?

Posting this for my neighbor who has a BX series Kubota. He is an older gentlemen and doesnt't like using the heel/toe pedal. He was asking me if there was a way to modify the forward pedal so it could be used for reverse other than pulling it backwards. I thought of attaching a pad to the side but the pivot point is back from where it comes through the floorboard so and pressure on the pedal just pushes it down(forward). Anybody done this?

No, but I also had a long adjustment time. Now I don't even think about it.

Tell him to put in more hours on the tractor.

I extended the rear pedal forwards so that I could change from forward to reverse just be rocking my ankle. (I.e. like a treadle) This saved the trouble of lifting my foot and sliding back onto the reverse pedal. Only issue I had was traveling the same direction and speed for an extended length of time didn't allow much shifting of the foot or ankle position.

I used to just slide my foot under the pedal, and lift it up. Didn't have to move my foot other than slide it under the forward pedal.:2cents:

He will get used to it with more seat time. I thought it was crazy at first too. I was driving my dads Deere last weekend and caught myself trying to use my heel to go in reverse without even thinking about.

Go to a Harley dealer and get a suicide shift handle to attach to it. LOL

Thanks for the replies, I think after looking at it myself we are going to make him a handle that is removable we can attach between both pedals to use the hydrostat pedals. The way that pedal is set up there isnt alot you can do with it.

That is very similar to what I was going to do. I am going to weld a bar from pedal to pedal with a nut in the center, then use a piece of pipe with a bolt for the handle and will be easily removable. I dont thing I will need quite as elaborate set up as that one with the floorboard mounted bearing. Thanks, thats about what I was looking for.
