Has anyone installed a mid PTO?

Has anyone done their own install of a mid PTO to their tractor? How difficult is it, can a capable person install or should it be left up to the dealer?

I installed the mid pto kit on my 4410. It was quite easy and John Deere provides very detailed installation instructions. I would review the installation instructions for your model of tractor and see if you think it's something you can do. The dealer should be able to print you off a copy.

First off, what kind of tractor do you have? Model number? If it has a cab or is it ROPS? On the 40 series, the cab tractors had the gear already in the tractor so a mid pto kit could be put on pretty easy. If it was a rops tractor, you need to split the tractor to add the gear. THe 30 series, all tractors had the gear installed. I know. I did both.
