2024 Mahindra 4540
I'm 5'6" tall and have trouble climbing onto the backhoe on my Mahindra 4540.

Does anyone know if there is an OEM or aftermarket step I could install to help me climb into the backhoe seating area?

I added two of these fold down steps from Surplus Center on my BH
They have a larger one that would be nicer

Thanks for the ideas Willman and Smokeydog!

I find it easier to climb up onto my BH92 hoe if I don't lower the outriggers completely until after I'm seated.

Smokeydog that looks like you have beefed up that outrigger for more than just a step. what's up

I'm 77 years old, short also and have a BH92. Smokeydog, what and how did you do your step?

Copied the design of outrigger covers from the M59 OEM design. Added steps to both to help this old man climb. Hillside farm always in a tight spot.

Mega pads with rubber, cleats and height risers helps plumb and resist sinking in soft ground. Less damage on hard surfaces or landscaping. Significant difference on bigger, heavier and stronger M59.

Detailed builds in previous posts.

The cylinder rod guard shells were from one piece , short drop of 5” square tube. Steps 2”x5” tubing. Good grip on often muddy shoes associated with backhoe use. Small crew of usually one means a lot of climbing up and down. Too much I want to do to fool around and get hurt by falling. Many of the machines we use need ergonomic help in that regard.
