Has any one built a sub soil wire puller ??

Thanks everyone, I found some very good ideas you folks have done it again. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Being an electrician I was thinking of the chanel as conduit and the pipe being the wire. Stick with me, basically I was looking at pulling from the start point. I plunge from start point and pull the tubing in as I go foward pulling the tubing in from the start point and driving on. I might try it, if not I can always convert it.

Minimal soil disturbance doing it this way .Run wires for remote valves at the same time as you run the pipe. You can do a search for; mini/maxi sneaker,vibratory plow,pipe puller,cable puller,pipe plow.

What kind of HP is needed to pull a subsoiler? I have a similar job to do putting say 1.5" poly pipe down 18". Would my B6200 4x4 do this? Maybe make multiple passes at an increasing depth? Would sure beat digging a 150' long trench with a shovel!

Roy, people here on TBN have used sub-soilers with the little BX series Kubotas, it can be done with the tiny tractors but from what I gather it is a bit of a struggle. I've used a 24hp and a 30hp tractor and found both to pull the subsoiler without much trouble as long as the toplink is set properly.

Here's a picture of my subsoiler/puller foot. I've pulled electrical wire and cable and up to 2" pipe, always PVC and not roll pipe.
