I planted my first ever garden this year with the help of my wife and kids. I had done no research or planning and to be honest I wasn't expecting much. Well so far my 1/3 acre of mostly weeds has produced two bushels of beans, 4 heads of broccli, more carrots and corn then I know what to do with, 5 huge zuccini and about 100 pumkins(still on the vine) including a monster that 30" in dia and still growing. Who knew farming was so much fun:)

Good on ya Pooba. If you enjoy your effort and the rewards, give it another try next yr and plan on squirreling away some of the food for a later time. Do a little studying and planning on what to plant, when to plant and how much you need to carry you over the winter and spring until garden time the following yr.

This is my 37th yr gardening the same plot. WE grow a good portion of the produec we use for the yr. About the only veggies we buy are lettuce and tomoato's in the off season.

We can a few things but mostly freeze the crops. Have 2 large freezers and a second large frig.

Thanks Mickey. I've already started planning next years garden. My wife says were not buying any veggies next summer so I think I'll have to expand the garden a little. I also need to do better job of weeding...it's kinda gotten out of hand. I've got a bunker crop of rag weed.
