I’m considering a 6.5’ disc harrow from Lowery Manufacturing for my 45hp NH TC45D for putting a few acres of food plots. I have the option of sealed bearings or friction bearings. I have tried reading up in the different but I’m not getting a clear understanding of the advantages of each. Would appreciate any advice, thank you.

I would be buying sealed if it were mine. Here are pics of each type. The first is the friction bearing that has a solid spool that slides on the axle and two clam shell halves that bolt around it, the only lib it gets is any grease that you apply each time you use it. IMG_1460.jpg

The second is the sealed roller bearings that are factory packed with grease and then the seals installed. No greasing needed by the operator, but once the seals get compromised the dirt and grime will ruin the bearings in short order. IMG_1462.jpg
