Hard to crank Kubota

Looking at a tractor that is for sale, Kubota l275, tractor looks good but is very hard to crank, runs good after it is cranked the first time and also it smokes out of the breather tube, doesn,t smoke out the exhaust, any ideas on what may be the problem, not a mechanic myself, I can buy this tractor fairly reasonable,any help will be appreciated.

Hard to crank takes in a lot of territory.
Week battery.
Poor battery cable connections at both ends.
Time for a starter rebuild.

Smoke from the breather tube.
Lots of blow by.
EGR valve stuck closed.
Worn piston rings.

Not a mechanic, keep walking down the street.

where is the egr valve on a tractor and the smoke out the blow by and hard to start sounds like a broke ring on the piston

How many hours on it?
I agree with the blow-by.
Engine may need rebuilt.

Went by and talked to the owner again and he seems like a straight up guy, he sez the engine needs a rebuild, I think i'll call a mechanic Monday and get a approx est. for a rebuild before I buy this tractor, what would be a avg. price for a rebuild, thanks Bpb
