Hard starting then dies

2007 ASV RC100 with Perkins 1104C engine non-turbo is very hard to start even with starting fluid and then dies after running good for 5 min. New fuel filters, lift pump assy clean fuel. Possible fuel shut-off solenoid? Hope I reach someone with answers? BML

Sounds as if there's a fuel flow restriction. Is fuel tank venting? Have you checked for good fuel flow from tank to inj pump? When engine is operating can you detect if any fuel is returning to fuel tank?

It does sound like a flow restriction. It is possible enough fuel seeps slowly by the restriction to fill the lines and allow you to start. The running engine possibly burns fuel faster than the restriction allows it to pass and you run out of fuel. The fuel tank vent if clogged can have a similar effect.

After the process of elimination, fuel was not flowing thru the small filter that sets near the hydraulic filters. I had just replaced that small filter and possibly I put in back together wrong. I by-passed the filter and went straight to the tank from the lift pump which has a filter / water separator. The ASV starts good and runs good so now I'll check that filter for a possible problem or replace it with a new in-line filter. Great help and thanks to each of you! This ASV may be the only one running in CA??? Its a great machine but too many safety devices...........
