It kind of amazes me what kind of junk people will buy as long as it's cheap.
I bought this table at an auction. The top is 3/4" thick. 5'X5'
The whole table weighs 6 or 700 lbs.
I added the 3 point pins so I can haul it in and out of my garage easily. It's nice to be able to keep all the grinding dust and welding smoke out of the garage.
If you want to do good work, buy good tools.
I live less than a mile from Harbor Fright and never go in there.

Can you stick it in the back seat of your car, and take it to your friends place?

No.
My friends come to me.
That way I don't have to try to put my table, welder, torch, grinder and a bunch of other tools in my car and travel over to them.

Like he said, eliminate the smoke and metal dust inside the shop. Probably healthier too. That said, there is a place for portable cheap stuff!!!

While we're on the topic of smoke, I think most of us now realize the health hazards associated with it. The welding fume extractors available for small shops work surprisingly well.
This is my Miller mounted on a modded out tool cart.

Yeah, one thing I have never invested in other than a dust collector for my biggest wood eating tools. Know I should do it for health reasons,but when I am weighing big tool purchases, the air filtration/dust collection tools seem to get out prioritized. :ashamed: Oh and I am jealous of the space in your shop!

I'm trying to set myself up for that situation! :thumbsup: I travel now a lot on business and no complaints. When I do get to retire, the dream is a metal and wood shop that keeps me as busy as I am now. In other words... a big well appointed dog house!

Why have a quarter ton tractor mobile welding table. What is it for?

I can set a loader bucket on it and weld a new wear edge on without crushing it.
I can set a 500 lb tractor engine on it without worrying about bending it.
I can clamp pieces to it to prevent them from warping when I weld it.
I can tack pieces to the top of it to assist in assembly then cut them off when I get it all welded together.
I can pound on it and flatten stuff.
I can drill and tap holes in the 3/4" top to assist in clamping things down.
I can hook a come a long to one side and straighten things.
I can heat things on it with the rose bud torch without warping the top.
I can clamp parts to it and paint them.
You can see the doors on one side where I store all my cutting and grinding wheels, welding and brazing rods, clamps, jigs, magnetic cutting bars, angle brackets, etc and keep them organized.
