Looks like it has a huge rail network.

And they built a railroad in a trench to improve access.

I was wrong about everything being 20 miles, this one is five miles from the port.
The Intermodal Container Transfer Facility (ICTF) is a near-dock, international shipping facility serving multiple shipping lines. Located approximately five miles from the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach,
And your second link describes the specialized 20 mile corridor that goes over to the main railyard.

It looks like those facilities have alleviated some of the chaos that existed last time I was working down there.

After some more reading - I think part of the chaos, cost, smog, traffic, near Port of Los Angeles is because the long freight trains carrying hundred of containers cross-country don't quite reach the port, but instead, most containers are transferred to trucks for 'last mile' entry to the port.

Hey somebody who knows more about the subject, please share what you know!

At any rate, the present slowdown there which leave ships anchored waiting offshore, may be part of HF's problem staying stocked.

This guy is a real internet treasure. He often includes a harbor freight model in his tests.
So just how good is your new Bauer? Was it such a good deal after all?

currently getting daily emails from HF, groan, 10 percent off list price plus a three dollar trinket.

I like cats but - you have 10! That is above and beyond.

We knew of a household that had 39 cats!
SPCA got involved and they are down to but a few now.
They were hoarders of the Nth degree in all things.
Making the situation worst they also had no hot water and you could smell them coming from afar.

After multiple stops at HF, I bought my portable storage bins for $7, using this weekend's 30% off on items $10 or less. The retail price, on both sizes, is $9.99.

Now .. I need to figure out what to build .. to store them.

Just fine actually. I have about all the 20 volt cordless Bauer tools and I use them daily. Thanks for asking.

Our cats (my wife's) are all wed fed, get their shots regularly and are all happy, outside ones and inside ones. All the males are fixed too.

Not hoarding anything here, just providing a good home for them. In reality as much as I'm not fond of cats, cats are better than most people I know today.
