Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

On the HFT stuff that doesn't suck, I found an amazing use for the cheap electrical tape! When strapping things down with ratchet straps, especially the big 2" 20 footers there's always a long tail left... I've used duct tape when it's handy and it rips pretty easy when wrapped around a bundle of strap, but the electrical tape is more sturdy in this application. At $.50 a roll it'll last a long time and doesn't leave as much residue on the straps as duct tape and easier to keep track of than bungies or trying to tie them in knots...

I bought this flooring tool to use in gardening. Today I was using it to grub out young black berry starts, and some annual thistles, and hemlock. It is extremely sharp, and easy to keep it so. I converted and old eyeglass pouch to use as a holster. It is an incredible value.

I would be surprised if there is anything inside the safe...

A cut off wheel would not work because of location... the safe in bolted to fine cabinetry in the master bedroom...

I once tried to use a cut off wheel in the house and position my shop vac to catch the sparks and it did... also melted the shop vac plastic...

Nuttin' to do with HF, but I plumbed my bench grinder to my shop vac using metal dryer vent flex hoses. Gives time for those sparks to cool down before getting to the shopvac and filter.

Ha ha... I went back and found a photo... 'or it didn't happen'. BTW I used new dryer duct. I'm pretty sure I could have started a nice burn if I would have repurposed my used dryer vent.



That reminds me... maybe I should do a service and clean out of my dryer plumbing!

Dumb stuff I did with a cutoff wheel:

Daughter wanted the lock cut off her bicycle. But I wasn't wearing Levi's, but rather, the synthetic office slacks I had just come home in. Yep.

Daughter howled in laughter as she pointed out the sparks were burning holes in my slacks.

While we're on HF cutoff wheels...I always wear quality safety glasses after I had one come apart at high RPM. Could happen to any wheel.

Using Harbor Freight Cut Off wheel to shorten a overhead garage door track... made quick work of the task but the shower of sparks reached a newly installed double pane window.

The hot sparks actually melted the glass where it hit... the glass was as rough as a cobb... well it was my window at least!

Has anyone here used the sanding sponges? Thinking of grabbing some of those this weekend to work on a guitar body I'm building.
