Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

I bought 2 of their 44" x 18" deep base units a bit over a year ago for, as I recall, about $325 each. The very next week, they introduced the 44" x 22" deep base units. Oh well.

I put mine against a wall in my shop and installed a 12' pre-made Formica counter top on top of the two boxes.

I've got my 10" Rikon bench top band saw, Woodcraft morticing machine, Ridgid belt / drum sander, and bench top jig saw on the counter top. On the end I've got a Delta dust collector just for these four tools.

I have room, in the middle, between the base units, to add a couple of the 18" wide side cabinet tool boxes, if I need them in the future.

Many pages back I wrote about the HF Angle Grinder Holder that makes the grinder into a cutoff tool. It was unsatisfactory. The lightweight sheet metal base flexed too easily letting the cutting disc wander. This was unsafe in addition to making an inaccurate cut, a thin cutoff disc can shatter if flexed sideways under load.

Today the equivalent tool but with a cast iron baseplate is in a Northern Tool email ad. $15. I bought it.

Let me know how you like it, I could see it coming in handy for a few jobs if it works well.

Anyone made a bench mount for the HF portable bandsaw?

Good minds think alike. I saw grinder holder, on sale with free shipping so got one on order. I also bought one of their 4 1/2", 6.5 amp angle grinders and 5 pack of the Norton cut off wheels for it.

$47 total and all three items on sale and free shipping. Closest NT Store is 60+ miles from me.

I saw the HF grinder holder some time ago and thought, at the time, this will show up on the "HF Tools that Suck" thread because of its crappy base.
