Try this idea to hook up to your trailer.
Lean a garden rake against the trailer coupler, put a mark at the top and centered on your tailgate, so you can see it in your rear view mirror, and back up to the trailer. Just remember which side of the coupler you put the rake. IT WORKS and didn't cost a thing.
