I think Lowes does sometimes but you get the new generation with out warranty and YMMV depending on store

It’s the same for HF. (For the tools that are lifetime warranty).
...and most HF tools are btw. Even the real cheapo Pittsburg hand tools are.

On returning stuff, I did return the Vulcan welding cab I bought because the pin lock on the door didn't match the key supplied so they gave me a new one, in the crate I might add and I asked the store manage lass what she was gonna do with the one I brought back and she told me she would put it in the markdown corner and sell it and that is exactly what she did and it left real quick like. Only way to get the door open would be to drill the lock out.

If I was 40 years younger and single I might have taken her up on a job....lol She is cute and me being me, I asked her if she was married and she said no...

How do HF lifetime warranty work. Just exchange a wrench or are there more hoops to jump through. Most of my tools are old Craftsman where you could just walk in and exchange them
Well, it's about the same as OLD craftsman, but way better than new Craftsman. Now, you cant just take a craftsman tool to a store that sells craftsman, and exchange.

It’s the same for HF. (For the tools that are lifetime warranty). I do have a large set of the old craftsman US made hand tools that I bought back in the 1980s. I wonder if they still honor that warranty since craftsman tools are still sold by Lowe’s and Ace Hardware?
Yes and No. You can't just walk in Lowes with your 1980s ratchet and walk out with one. Maybe exact model for model, maybe? Generally now, I think you are suppost to contact Craftsman, and get a replacement; m

Isn't Cracksman now Chinese? Might as well buy HF as you know where it was made and I don't mean in Ohio either.

They are the same as everyone, Globally sourced. Some in China, some in Taiwan, some in Ustados Unitos, some in India, and apparently some in Denmark (hand saws and chisels)

I bought the 11 amp Hercules corded angle grinder as refurb at half price. Same as new except somebody's initials are engraved on it. This is a near perfect twin to the $100 DeWalt. I love it.
The 000 engraving is how they mark the open box stuff so you don't try to get a full warranty or try to trick them... I have a bunch of open box stuff from them so I've seen it before...

About two years ago I found an old Craftsman ratchet laying in a parking lot that was in bad shape and inoperable. I took it to Lowes and the associate and I walked over to the shelf to find another one. They did not have any standard 3/8" ratchets in stock so the associate took the high end 120 tooth ratchet and handed it to me and said "there ya go".

Just stopped in HF for a screwdriver. Spent $35 on stuff I probably don't need. ;)
My HF's are each 45 minutes away, so a dedicated trip is required.

Same here I am surrounded by HF stores in all 4 major directions, but they are all 1/2 hr to 45 minutes away.
