Quick Hitches Harbor freight 3 point quick hitch

Lots of people have had good luck with the HF quick hitch, but you need to get this one instead.

Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices

It is 27.5" between the lower hooks rather than the 26.5" that your model shows. It fits Cat I implements much better and is $10 cheaper to boot. A lot of guys with the 26.5" quick hitch end up having to spread the arms with a bottle jack to get it to fit their implements.

You also might need bushings for your lower draw pins to bring them up to the right size for the quick hitch hooks. The bushings are typically only about a dollar each at your local farm store if you need them.

Exactly right. I just measured my bush hog 42" RC, and the 26.5" model would require some 'aftermarket work'.

Thanks,

Todd

I do not doubt (and actually now considering as an option), however why the 2 different sizes? I would guess that some brands of impliments are sized differently, however I was just wondering if you knew?

TIA

Just got mine from HF a couple of days ago. Amazed to find shipping charge only $9.99 from California to Washington state, and that included the sending the optional top link adapter which was shipped separately. My nearest HF is thirty or so miles away and with the price of gas these days, it was a no brainer :D

Just checked my Bush Hog 42" RC, and there is 3" clearance between the top link and the lower bar. I suspect that I cannot use the 27.5" HF Quick Hitch on this without the adapter. Or can I? Is the top hook greater than 3" tall? IE can I wedge the hook into that narrow slot, and still attach the lower hooks?

I can't seem to find the adapter on the HF site. Have a link to it? Looking at picking this thing up tomorrow.

Thanks,

Todd

I'm talking a little beyond my knowledge here, but I think HF started selling the 26.5" version a couple years ago. I say this based on historical TBN posts. After a few years of poor implement fitment, they finally released the newer 27.5" version that appears to work much better for most folks. The 26.5" SKU remains as a historical artifact.

I've never seen the adapter on the web site, but many have reported finding it by calling HF directly. Verify this by TBN search. There is also a slick trick where you take a grinder and round off the top corners of the top link on the quick hitch. This allows you to leave the adapter on all the time, even when not in use. Good luck.

Well it makes since and since I read it on the internet, it must me true. :D

I will take one of the newer ones please... :)

I must have purchased an earlier model. It was really marked down, less than $50 as I recall.
I had to grind the lower and upper hooks to get it to fit my rototiller.
The extra clearance is a good idea. It must make for quicker connections.

Here's the link that explains all ..... http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...y-harbor-freight-quick-hitch.html#post1371773

Link apparently only available at HF HQ. It's apparently so secret that it must be ordered as a "order from catalog" item including a 4 digit current catalog code for example ... 29309-5vga Or if that doesn't work call and talk to somebody.

Also check shipping price. I read somewhere that shipping was something like $12 for that little thing, but $10 for that AND the 60# quick hitch together???? :eek:

I have had great luck with this hitch. my info is at
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/parts-repairs/124815-my-harbor-freight-quick-release.html

Bought the Harbor Freight Quick 3 point hitch that has been discussed here. I decided to open a new thread, with my experiences. I will add as soon as I can figure out how to add pictures. Bottom line, it fits everything I have, even that 40 year old disc harrow.

specs:
93691-0VGA 3-POINT QUICK HITCH.
* It is the one with the inside clearance of 26-1/2"
* Fits most category 1 tractors
* 4-position draw pin adjustments
* Meets ASAE specifications
* Weight: 60 lbs.
* Includes pins and clips.
* Draw pin adjustments: 18'', 19'', 20'' and 21'',
* Overall dimensions: 30" W x 24" H

first notes.
1. I have found that I needed a different position on the draw pin on every implement. the repeated bolting/unbolting of two bolts, ticked me off. After checking on the prices of pins, I took the two bolts, drilled holes and put pins in them. I now just pull the pins, the bolts, position the draw and put the bolts back in.
2. The 40 year old disc harrow is a "perfect fit." Too perfect. There is only about an 1/8 inch clearance. I am taking out the grinder to make it more like an 1/2 inch, which is more my speed.
3. I did not have to change anything on my tractor. no grinding. Apparently those problems refer to the older versions.

Looking to get an I-Match for my 2305, and I saw this at $99. Can probably get it at my local Harbor Freight store and save on shipping. Quite a difference in cost than the ($250) I-Match.

Anyone used one? Think it's worth a hoot?

You can always get the adapter so you don't have to change the pins all the time.

That's what I did. Changing the top link position got to be a pain. I'd like to buy another and adapt it to my quick-tach loader. Need to get some mad money fist though.

Darn this post!!!! Darn the usefulness!!!!

Darn if I didn't run to HF on lunch and stuff one of these into the trunk... :D

Yeah, they tried to sell me the 93691 (26 1/2" was the only one on the floor) and when I asked for the 97214 (27 1/2") they acted like it did not exist. So I had them search for it on the register and pointed to the screen when I saw it and said 'that's it', it was even in stock.

Yep, even had them load it for playing games, silly sales people...

I am picking one up after work. The lady had to check three times before she realized that they actually did have the 27 1/2" model. However, HF is back ordered on the adapter (29309). Is there a different manufacturer that makes an adapter that will fit this QH?

I remember reading it on TBN, but there are Cat I and Cat II specifications that tells the required dimensions for the lower pins.
I'll see if I can find the thread and the link. Most older implements follow these but with newer stuff it's hit or miss. Oh I think the 27 1/2 is within spec, and the 26 1/2 is too small.

Wedge
the hitch I bought, noted above with part number! works on all my stuff, see above.

Also,
saw the same hitch, for the same price in ASC catalog. along with all the competitors.

After reading about HF quick hitch, I decided to purchase one this week. I wasn't greatly impressed with the quality of HF hitch but also looked at Speeco hitch at TSC and it was about the same quality at twice the cost. After installing it on my tractor, I was further disappointed with the loose fitting undersized pins that came with it. I guess with some drilling and standard size pins the connections can be tightened up. I will be surprised if it doesn't need some additional reinforcement as it appears to have some areas of weak design because of the lightweight metal.

Oh well, for the price I can see if makes hookups a lot easier and find out if it is going to be strong enough to handle work with a box blade.

Thanks to the good discussions here I to have purchased the 3-point quick hitch from Harbor Freight. Also got the Cat 1 draw bar and cat 1 top link. $130.97 for all plus a measly $11.99 in shipping. Over thirty miles to nearest HF so I got it delivered for gas money. Just have to put in on the GC2300 w/FEL and MMM.:)
