Made my day to see this tree smiling after we trimmed some branches. :thumbsup:

I also see where you wounded the tree by not doing an under cut to that bottom limb.

The under cut is the first I do when trimming.

We were trimming after some wind damage and the branch was already down and we tried to cut it closer. Good point about under cutting to prevent that damage when cutting and we did spray the cuts. These pine trees just don't like wind.

I see all the smilies! :) Sometimes just making 2 cuts when taking off a branch will eliminate the damage. Good thing is pines can withstand almost anything!

The sap Pines are known for should provide some protection, probably better than most paint. The few trees I have painted after a limb removal, I have added Listerine to the latex, (Grandpa swore by it) dont know if it works \, but it made since.
